The Acai berry is the new buzzword in the current weight loss product marketplace; the Acai berry got immediate attention soon after its arrival into the USA market as a highly effective natural weight loss diet. Almost all the Acai product manufacturers are trying to convince their customers that their Acai supplements can dramatically reduce their weight. But the truth behind the Acai berry weight loss abilities is totally different and Acai berry as a weight loss product is not more than a scam.

Recently CNN has published an article on the Acai berry weight loss misleading claims; according to the CNN writing consumers should be unconvinced of health and weight-loss claims of the increasingly admired Brazilian fruit, the Acai berry, and the free trial offers that request for their credit card information, a nonprofit health group said Monday.

The Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI) said Acai Supplement companies offering free samples of their weight loss diet pills made with the Acai berries have deceived thousands of consumers using bogus celebrity endorsements and blogs to attract customers.

In free Acai berry trails consumers are asked to provide a credit card to pay shipping and handling charges only, but customer usually begin receiving $80 to $90 monthly charges almost immediately. Thousands of consumers have had difficulty stopping those charges once they canceled the free trial offer order.

The Acai berry comes in many forms including juice, pulp, powder and capsule. The Acai berry has been advertized as an antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and an antibacterial. The Brazilian Acai fruit is said to have Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids, which are essential to human health.

The Acai berry fruit may have certain health benefits but the Acai berry weight loss claims are unproven, said the CSPI. There is no confirmation whatsoever to recommend that Acai supplements will help discard extra pounds, flatten tummies, cleanse colon, improve sexual desire, or perform any of the other usually advertised functions,” according to the CSPI ’s press release.

The Acai berry’s popularity has surged on fake marketing claims, said Jonny Bowden, a certified nutrition specialist and author of several health books. Almost every berry — blueberry, strawberry, Goji, Acai — are anti-inflammatory and high in antioxidants, Bowden said. This particular one is from abroad. It’s discovered in Brazil. It’s been promoted to have more of a magic ingredient. It’s been over-hyped and advertized to death. There are claims to treat cancer, curing baldness that is all over the place. Like most berries, Acai berry has good dietary qualities, but there is not a drop of research, that supports advertising claims that it prevents weight increase and facial wrinkles, Bowden said.

The Acai berry juices sell for as much as $40 per bottle. The luxurious Acai berry is success of marketing over science, that’s the end result,” Bowden said. It’s not ineffective, but it’s not anything that people are claiming it is.

Companies including FWM Laboratories of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and Hollywood, Florida, Advanced Wellness Research of Miami Beach, Florida, and other Acai companies are accuse of using bogus diet blogs to attract consumers to their sites plugging the free trials.

After a doctor declared the Acai berry as a healthy food on the some famous TV shows last year, and a visitor on Rachael Ray’s cooking show talked about the Acai berry fruit, ads popped up directing consumers to their sites selling Acai weight loss supplements as if endorsed by the superstars. Winfrey and Ray have openly disassociated themselves from those sites.

Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal is looking into several complaints and said a court case against FWM Laboratories is very likely.

According to the Better Business Bureau, FWM Laboratories achieved an F rating, the BBB’s worst product ranking. Other Acai companies with the BBB’’s F rating include Advanced Wellness Research, AcaiBurn, FX Supplements and SFL Nutrition.

There are no magical berries from the Brazilian rain forest that deal with obesity, only terrible real credit card payments and blank weight loss promises,” Blumenthal said. Aggressive Acai berry pitches on the Internet attract countless consumers into free Acai berry trials promising weight loss, energy and detoxification. These bogus claims are based on folklore, conventional remedies and absolute fabrications unproved by real scientific confirmation.

Keri Gans, dietitian and spokeswoman for the American Dietetic Association, suggests that customers go round to fruits and vegetables at their local produce markets. She further says if you are going on the Internet to find them and paying shipping fees, you should go to bazaar and get local vegetables and fruits. It would be fairly less expensive.

The Acai berries could be branch of a well-balanced diet of different fruits, vegetables and whole grains. Gans said consumers should be disbelieving whenever any such food seems too good to be true and should not to rely on one “miracle food” to improve health. And if people hope to find answers in one food for long life, I would say they are misguided, Gans said.
